Leavenworth Women’s Exchange
The Leavenworth Women’s Exchange monthly luncheon meeting is on Wednesday Feb. 14 at noon at Visconti’s, 636 Front St. The cost is $15 per person for members and $17 for non-members. Beverage, dessert, tax and gratuity are included. Grizzled Old Men vs. Seniors
Are you looking for some fun, local entertainment on Monday, Feb. 12 that supports a worthy cause? Look no further than the annual Grizzled Old Men vs. Cascade Kodiak Seniors basketball game. All proceeds benefit fundraising efforts for the Senior Sober Graduation Party for the Class of 2018. Come cheer on local orchardists, business owners, school teachers/administrators, firefighters, dentists, doctors and high school seniors as they forget all about age in the name of good fun. Pizza slices will be available for purchase. Raffle and donation opportunities will also mark the evening. Monday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. at Cascade High School. Spring Bird Fest art exhibition
Icicle Creek Center for the Arts, in collaboration with the Wenatchee River Institute and the 2018 Leavenworth Spring Bird Fest, invites submissions for the exhibition “Pacific Northwest Birds and their Habitats.” This juried art exhibition serves as an opportunity for a diverse range of artists to display their work in the Snowy Owl Theater during the celebrated 2018 Leavenworth Spring Bird Fest. Veterans, join the Chelan County Veteran’s Service Officer, WorkSource, and SSVF representatives for coffee and organizational information the first Friday (Feb. 2) of the month in Leavenworth at Kristall’s Restaurant from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. If you are a veteran or dependent and are seeking employment, homeless or at risk, want to request a DD214, or talk about potentially filing a VA Disability claim, join us for more information. Social walking in the Festhalle
This year, the City is trying out a new winter exercise program at the Leavenworth Festhalle. Beginning Feb. 5, Mondays will be added. The Festhalle will be open on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7 - 8:50 a.m. for those wanting to walk a few laps. There is no charge...all you need to bring is a pair of dry tennis shoes. Please enter through the Front Street side door just down from the front entrance. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate children at this time. (e05,06)
Upper Valley Scholarship
Applications are now being accepted for this scholarship offered by P.E.O. Chapter JF for women residing in Chelan or Douglas County. The purpose of this scholarship is to assist women 30 years or older returning or currently enrolled in higher education in the state of Washington after a two-year or more absence.  Deadline for applications is April 30, 2018. Icicle Chapter TU Presentation
The Icicle Chapter of Trout Unlimited proudly presents Cody Gillin as a guest speaker at its regular meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 13 6:30 p.m. in the Lake Wenatchee Room at the icicle Inn Resort. Cody is the current manager of fish and water restoration in NCW with Washington Water Project which has teamed up with U.S. Fish and Wildlife to initiate a beaver program for the Wenatchee River Basin. Write on the River Winter Workshop
Write On The River proudly presents its winter workshop weekend on Saturday, February 24. The workshop will be held at Wenatchi Hall at Wenatchee Valley College. Applications are now being accepted for the 2018 Washington State Opportunity Scholarship (WSOS). Students must have earned a high school diploma or GED from a Washington State high school or institution by June 2018, and must be pursuing an eligible, high-demand major in science, technology, engineering, math, or healthcare at an eligible Washington state college or university starting in fall of 2018. Food Bank for pets
Wenatchee Valley Humane Society is hosting a monthly, public animal food bank for those needing public assistance with dog or cat food. The food bank will be held at the shelter, located at 1474 S. Wenatchee Avenue in Wenatchee. Distribution will be held in the Education Room (North door by the memorial garden) and will begin at 11 a.m. until available supplies last, or 6 p.m., whichever comes first. The food bank will be held on the last Friday of each month on a first come, first serve basis. No reservations will be taken. Food will be limited to one distribution per household.
