Section Hike Oregon’s PCT: Eli Boschetto

Join Eli Boschetto to learn everything a section-hiker needs to know, including access, hazards, flora, fauna, history, and PCT secrets. Boschetto’s new Mountaineers guide breaks down Oregon’s 450 miles of PCT into manageable sections—stunning routes that can be easily knocked off in three days, a week, or more. Write your life story

We all have stories to share. In this class, learn how to begin compiling a collection of your life experiences to share with friends and/or family. Pick up your pen and open a new chapter in your life in a supportive class atmosphere. This is a wonderful opportunity to recall and share memories. This class will focus on writing your life stories as well as organizing your stories. This 8-week class begins on July 10 at 1 to 2:30 p.m. and meets on the subsequent seven Mondays. Leavenworth Summer Theater Box Office Opens  

The Leavenworth Summer Theater box office is open at Icicle Resort on Highway 2 for ticket sales for the summer shows. Summer hours are 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The phone number is 509-548-2000. Online sales are also open via the Theater website. The Sound of Music  will open the season on July 7 at the Ski Hill Amphitheater. Annie opens at Hatchery Park on July 19 and Bye Bye Birdie starts August 1 at Hatchery Park. Performance dates are listed on the theater’s website, www.leavenworthsummertheater.org. (e24,25)

Nutcracker Day In Leavenworth

The Nutcracker Museum will hold its annual Nutcracker Day on Saturday, July 1 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Highlight of the day will be the judging of the student “Make Your Own Nutcracker” contest. Many local students are expected to enter the contest and winners will be announced at 1 p.m. On Nutcracker Day, learn about the history of nutcrackers, take pictures with Karl, our giant goodwill ambassador, crack hazelnuts with old fashioned mechanical nutcrackers. Each family will get a poster from the museum, and have a chance to win a nutcracker or museum book with hourly drawings. (e25,26)

Fire Department Open House

Chelan County Fire District 3 in Leavenworth is providing the community an opportunity to view their station with tours and activities for adults and kids. Free hot dogs for everyone. Plan to visit the station at 228 Chumstick Highway on Sunday, July 9 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Bring the entire family. (e25,26)

Leavenworth Lions Club Community Breakfast

The Leavenworth Lions Club is holding a community breakfast this Saturday, June 24, 7 to 11 a.m, in the Lions Club Park. All-you-can-eat pancakes, eggs cooked to order, sausage, coffee, tea, and milk for only $7 for adults, $3.50 for children 4-10, free for children under 4. Come enjoy a hearty breakfast and visit with your local community members. Purchase from any Lion member a punch card for $39, good for six adult breakfasts. P.E.O. Garage Sale

P.E.O. Chapter JF will hold their Annual Garage Sale on Saturday, June 24 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Leavenworth Methodist Church located at 418 Evans St. Sales are by donation. Proceeds go toward making educational opportunities available to women through scholarships, grants and loans. (e25)

Ponderosa 4-H Club pancake breakfast

Please join Ponderosa 4-H Club for our 61st Annual Chuckwagon Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser, with sausage, eggs and drink too. Breakfast will be from 7 to 11:30 a.m. on July 4 at Lions Club Park. Club members are selling tickets and tickets are also available at the event. Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for kids 12 and under. Lake Wenatchee

Lake Wenatchee State Park summer programs

Learn about Conserving Natural Resources at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 1. Park staff will provide a Junior Ranger program discussing ways to conserve natural resources, what that means and how the park practices good land stewardship. Participants also will work on a take-home project to help remember good conservation methods at home. (e24,25)

Book-It Repertory Theatre

Book-it Theatre presents: “El Deafo” by Cece Bell in a play at 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 29 at Cashmere Community Library, 300 Woodring St. This is a real play with professional actors, a stage and costumes. The play lasts about 45 minutes and promises to impress. Free to the public. (er24,25)

Small Miracles summer lunch program

Small Miracles will be at the Cottage Avenue Park again this year with the USDA Summer Lunch Program. The program will run Monday through Thursday at noon, now through Aug. 10. This will mark the sixth year Small Miracles has fed hungry children and over 15,000 lunches have been served to date. The program is open to ALL children 18 and under. No paperwork or ID required. Just show up. The kids will be served a nutritious lunch made by Wenatchee School District. Volunteers are needed to pick up and serve the lunches. Biathlon training

The Washington Biathlon Association is hosting a training clinic on Saturday, June 24, at the North Central Washington Gun Club in East Wenatchee. The clinic is designed for those who want to learn about and try the exciting sport of Biathlon. The WBA provides rifles, targets and other equipment for this day long clinic.  The clinic will focus on safety and skills used in summer Biathlon but is also applicable to winter Biathlon.  Biathlon involves cross country skiing, running or mountain biking coupled with small bore rifle marksmanship.
