Fire District Levy meetings

There will be two community meetings to provide information on the upcoming Chelan County Fire District 3 Levy, which will go before the voters on Aug. 1, 2017. The first community meeting is at 7 p.m. on May 18 at the Fire Hall. The second community meeting is at 7 p.m. on June 1 at the Fire Hall. Questions, please call Kelly O’Brien, 548-7711. (e18,19,20)

Pinocchio auditions

This is a musical adaptation with adult and some younger actors of “Pinocchio” with song, dance, and other nonsense outdoors on the Meadow Stage. The auditions are from 6-to-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17 at the Canyon Wren Recital Hall. More than 16 roles to fill. Be prepared to read. If a singer, prepare 16 bars and bring music on USB stick. Bird-lovers: Meet State Book Award Winner Lyanda Haupt

Free brush and limb disposal 

May 20, June 2-3 and June 9-10, 8:30 a.m.- 4 p.m. Trees and limbs up to 12-inches diameter and less than 8-feet long, leaves, pine needles. No rocks, plastic bags, grass clippings, sod, root wads, noxious weeds. To defend your home, eliminate fire fuels within 30 feet of structures, remove flammables from gutters and porches, prune branches 10 feet above the ground. This service is provided to help you reduce your risk to wildfire and decrease impacts to air quality resulting from smoke from outdoor burning. Camp Zanika Lache clean up

The annual spring clean-up for Camp Zanika Lache is Saturday, May 20, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. We are in need of volunteers that can help us open camp for the summer: clean cabins, set up the archery range, the waterfront, clean the Kiwanis lodge, set up the wall tents, clean the kitchen, help clean the kitchen, burn debris, and have fun at the same time. Bring your gloves, rakes, loppers, and anything you think will come in handy. Lunch will be provided. Law Enforcement Officers to be honored

The Greater Wenatchee Sunrise Lions Club will hold its 25th Annual “Peace Officer Appreciation Luncheon” on Wednesday, May 17. The luncheon will begin at 11:15 a.m. at the Wenatchee Convention Center. Cost for the buffet lunch will be $15. The buffet luncheon, will combine the “Officer of the Year” awards ceremony and a memorial ceremony, which will honor officers who have died or been disabled in the line of duty. Admission can be paid at the door or by contacting Ike Cummings of the Greater Wenatchee Sunrise Lions Club by phone at 886-0894. This event is open to the public. (er19,20)
