Empty Bowls Artists’ Showcase and Gala Reception

View the 2017 bowls created by local artists and potters at the first annual Leavenworth Empty Bowls Artists’ Showcase and Gala Reception, Sunday, March 5 from 5-7 p.m. at the Icicle Ridge Winery in Peshastin. An evening of art, wine, appetizers and music. Tickets are $10, online at uvmend.org or at the door. Leavenworth Women’s Exchange

The Leavenworth Women’s Exchange monthly luncheon is on Wednesday, March 8 at noon at Visconti’s Italian Restaurant, 636 Front St. The cost is $14 per person for members and $16 for non-members. Beverage, dessert, tax and gratuity are included. Devon Williams will present the program titled “Natural Health Solutions with Essential Oils”. Cascade Select Choir Fundraiser Concert

The Cascade Select Choir is announcing a concert on Tuesday, March 7 at 7 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, 418 Evans St, Leavenworth. The concert will feature all the music performed at the Regional Music Championships. This event will also help raise funds for the choir’s upcoming Spring Tour. Icicle Trout Unlimited membership meeting

Icicle Valley Trout Unlimited will hold its March membership meeting on Wednesday, March 8 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Leavenworth’s Icicle Inn. Jennifer Hadersberger from Chelan County Department of Natural Resources and Andrew Murdoch from Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife will discuss plans for a long-anticipated comprehensive study of Lake Wenatchee’s complex water ecosystem. At 5:30 p.m., the T.U. Women’s Initiative group, Icicle Fly Girls, will hear a presentation on drive-to fishing lakes in Chelan County. Everyone is welcome. (e09)

LWSC Annual Meeting

The Leavenworth Winter Sports Club will hold its annual meeting from 5 to 6:30 p.m., Monday, March 6 at the Ski Hill Lodge. All members and the public are invited to join us at the LWSC Annual Meeting. Attend and hear updated information on the Club’s finances, operations, teams and events. At this year’s meeting we are accepting nominations for two open Board of Directors positions; Nordic #3 and Alpine #4. Also, the Club welcomes comments on the proposed updated bylaws between now and the meeting. (e09) 

eBird 101: Become a Citizen Science Birder

There are two free trainings, March 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Chelan-Douglas Land Trust and March 23 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Barn Beach Reserve with an additional field course offered from 11 a.m. to noon. Do you like to bird? Would you like to see your observations contribute to something greater? Then become a citizen scientist with eBird. (e09,10)

Upper Valley Scholarship 

Applications are now being accepted for this scholarship offered by P.E.O. Chapter JF for local women. The purpose of this $1,500 scholarship is to assist women returning to or currently enrolled in higher education in the state of Washington after a two-year or more absence. Cashmere

Chamber to honor Business and Citizens of the Year  

Each spring, Cashmere Chamber of Commerce presents a Business and Citizen of the year who have demonstrated dedication and excellence for their outstanding contributions to the community. Sure to Rise Bakery, Tom Green and Jack Pusel will be honored at the Cashmere Chamber of Commerce Annual Auction and Recognition Dinner to be held on March 24 at 5:30 p.m. at the Cashmere Riverside Center. Tickets for the event are $30 a person. Tickets are on sale now at the Chamber office, or are available through a board member. (er08,09)

Camp Fire WoHeLo Benefit Luncheon  

Camp Fire North Central Washington will be holding their Annual Benefit Luncheon on Wednesday, March 1 at the Wenatchee Convention Center. The luncheon is free with the opportunity given to support Camp Fire mission and programs. Camp Fire has Afterschool programs at Columbia, Lewis & Clark, Lincoln, and Mission View schools, Boys and Girls youth clubs, and Co-ed summer camp at Camp Zanika.
