Enchantment Park

A great place for the kids to blow off some steam no matter what their ages! Enchantment Park includes a world-class bike-pump park, a new skate-board park, the Rotary Club’s outdoor gym, ball fields and access to Riverfront Park and the Kid’s Fishing Pond. Located at the end of Enchantment Park Way off of Sholtze Street there is parking and restrooms so bring a picnic lunch and let the kids play!

Enzian Falls Championship Putting Course

A short distance from Leavenworth’s downtown core, Enzian Falls is a sure-shot destination for those in your family who love the links. Designed for beginners or advanced players, Enzian’s 18-hole, natural bent grass course is sure to please. While on the course, players are treated to amazing views of the surrounding mountains and wilderness, and also the occasional bleat from the course’s resident goats, Snowball and Hansi. Icicle Junction Activities Center

Right at the west entrance to Leavenworth, you’ll find a great haven for family and friends of all ages. The Icicle Junction Activities Center offers a video arcade, largest sports screen in town and sports themed eatery, as well as an 18-hole miniature golf with fairways and greens winding through cascading waterfalls, around Bavarian buildings, waterwheel and babbling brooks. Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery

The Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery provides an excellent opportunity to experience nature and all it holds firsthand. Exhibits include stock pens full of fingerlings, and in the late spring visitors might be lucky to witness adult salmon returning to spawn. It’s a great way to learn about the important niche salmon play in our ecosystem and what kind of efforts are needed to make sure they stay around. During the winter months, the hatchery offers naturalist-guided snowshoe walking tours to demonstrate survival techniques and the local wildlife. Tours are free and open to children over 8, but reservations are required. The hatchery is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Call 509-548-7641.

Liberty Orchards

Home of the world famous Aplets and Cotlets candy factory. Liberty Orchards in Cashmere is just a short drive down U.S. Highway 2 from Leavenworth. Liberty Orchards’ friendly employees will guide you through every step of the process that produces the  renowned candy from the hand-sorting of the walnuts to the hand-packed boxes. The Nutcracker Museum

One of the unique treasures is the non-profit Leavenworth Nutcracker Museum, upstairs on the southwest corner of Front and Eighth streets. Inside the museum you will find more than 6,000 nutcrackers on display which have come from more than 40 countries. You will see a collection of nutting stones dating back to the Archaic period, and nutcrackers that date back to Roman times. You will see nutcrackers crafted in wood, brass, silver, iron, porcelain, ivory and man-made materials. You will be amazed at the creativity man has used throughout the centuries to open the hard shell of the nut. The museum is known as the world’s finest collection of nutcracking devices. Guests will be shown a 14-minute introductory video on the history of nutcrackers, and students are invited to go on a “Nutcracker Hunt.” The museum is also handicap accessible. 509-548-4573. KIDS! Ohme Gardens

This nationally acclaimed 9-acre alpine garden was created on a barren hilltop overlooking the Columbia River by the Ohme family more than 80 years ago. Pronounced as it’s written, (oh-me), the gardens provide a maze of stone paths which lead to fern-bordered pools with trickling waterfalls, rustic shelters, secluded hideaways and a wishing well. Rocky Reach Visitor Center

Look a salmon in the eye, see electricity made, play on acres of green, stroll the Museum of the Columbia, enjoy lunch or a latte. Free family fun. The Rocky Reach Visitor Center is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., seven days a week, from the second Saturday in March though Oct. 31.

Upper Valley Museum

The museum houses local area history through the use of artifacts, pictures and scrapbooks that takes you back to the early days of Leavenworth.
