Hazardous Materials Training

Posted

Lake Wenatchee Fire and Rescue participated in a demonstration of deploying an oil boom containment system out of the trailer-  usually done by hooking a boat up to it and pulling it right out of the trailer. Different deployment methods are used depending on current, pattern of the spill, but one or both ends can be anchored or tied of to shore. Once the boom is in place to contain, the material skimmers can be used to pick it up or can be sopped up with absorbents. (Photo submitted by George Wilson)
