Cascade Booster Club hosts annual open golf tournament

Posted

Teams of four golfers are invited to come and compete in a fun day of golf and raise money toward a good cause.

The Cascade Athletic Booster Club is hosting the fourth annual Cascade Open tournament at the Leavenworth Golf Club on July 12.

Tournament organizer Angela Reinhart said she and another mother began the tournament in 2016 to help raise money for different athletic programs. The organizers chose to donate the proceeds from the first tournament to the Cascade Athletic Booster Club and have continued to do so every year. The Booster Club supports student athletes at Cascade High School and Icicle River Middle School and use funds to provide equipment to teams and scholarships for student athletes

In the last couple of years, tournament organizers have partnered with the booster club and the Cascade Open became an official Booster Club sponsored event. Several businesses within Wenatchee Valley have also helped sponsor the tournament as well.

“Over the past few years the Cascade Open has raised thousands of dollars for our student athletes,” Reinhart said.

The tournament is a four-person scramble format with a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start. Reinhart said the competition is open to all ages and levels.

“Anyone can play, you do not have to be an avid golfer, and handicaps are not required,” she added.

The top team will receive prizes while the coveted second-to-last place trophy will be awarded to the team who finishes second to last.

Registration for the tournament is $90 per person. The registration fee covers 18 holes of golf, a barbecue dinner and giveaways.

After tournament play, golfers can enjoy a barbecue dinner catered by Wild Huckleberry. There will be a raffle during the meal with several prizes such as golf gear, wine baskets, gift cards, overnight stays and prize packages for Gamble Sands and Palouse Ridge golf courses.

The Booster Club will also be selling memberships during the event.

Reinhart said organizers hope to fill the course with teams, and are seeking hole sponsors. The cost to sponsor a hole is $100, and sponsors will have their business name and logo displayed on one of the blocks. The tournament is also seeking more items for the raffle.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Cashmere Athletic Booster Club.
