Posted

The Cascade High School basketball team continued their season with an 80-54 league loss to Cashmere on Jan. 15.

The Bulldogs jumped to 33-14 lead in the first quarter. The Kodiaks gained some offensive momentum in the second quarter, outscoring Cashmere, 16-9, bringing the scoring gap to 42-30 at halftime.

The Kodiaks continued with double digits in the second half, scoring 12 points both the third and fourth quarters.

"It was the first time playing in front of a home crowd this season, the atmosphere was good," Head Coach Paul Fraker said. "Once we got through the first quarter jitters, we played well in the second quarter."

Fraker said there were moments in the game where the team got stagnant and Cashmere capitalized on the opportunity to score.

"I know we can do it, we just need to put four quarters together to be an upper level team," Fraker added.

Cole Warnaca led the Kodiaks in scoring with 12 points while Kurt Fraker added 11.

Cascade, who is 0-7 CTL and 4-10 overall, is still searching for their first league win. They host Okanogan in a league game on Jan. 18.

"Every game is a huge game for us," Fraker said. 'We're looking to get one (win) for sure to get us in the right direction."
