Posted

The Tuesday, Sept. 25 City The Cascade Kodiaks girls soccer teams ran with the home field advantage at the Thursday, September 27 game against the Okanogan Bulldogs. The girls left the field with a record of two wins, six losses and one tie, but regardless of the season’s total record - the girls’ left it all on the field performance wise.

After several difficult setbacks for the team in the form of non-conference games, the girls’ didn’t let that stall them from putting their best foot forward in the game against the Bulldogs.

The first half was a clear indication that the Kodiaks were setting the pace and making the goals for this game.

“It was a solid performance led by our captains Josie Brenan, Tori Driscoll and Kascia Muscutt. We started a bit slow but within 10 min the ladies found their rhythm,” said head coach Glen Stefanko.

Goals were made at a steady pace throughout the game by freshman Madi Gillespie, junior Kolby Hunt, junior Tori Driscoll and junior Kascia Muscutt. Muscutt racked in an impressive four goals by the final quarter.

With the combination of both more seasoned and younger players, everyone on the field played a part in the win.

“(The) highlight of the match was the solid performance that continued even as some of the younger players stepped onto the field.

The quick play and scoring continued and they were impressively moving to the next level of play,” said Stefanko. “That player depth and commitment to excellence will be necessary in the post season play.”

With an end score of 8-0, the Kodiaks proved they had the stamina to power through another impressive season for the girls’ soccer team.

“We are looking to keep the momentum rolling into next weeks matches against Chelan and Omak,” said Stefanko
