Cascade girls track places second at Reike Invitational, boys take sixth

The Cascade High girls track team recorded a second-place finish with 96 points at the 22nd Annual Reike Invitational on April 26. The Kodiak boys finished sixth with 79 points.

Lauren Muscutt took the top spot in the women’s 400 meters in 1 minute and 3.61 seconds.

Madeline Gillespie (16.98 personal record) and Zoe McDevitt (17.25) recorded a 1-2 finish in the 100 meter hurdles. The duo also took the top two spots in the 300 meter hurdles with Gillespie winning in 48.76 and second-place McDevitt recording a PR of 48.88.

Kascia Muscutt finished second in the 800 meters with a PR of 2:26.41 and Victoria Driscoll took fourth in the 100 meters in 13.86.

Julia Armstrong won the pole vault with a mark of 10-00 while Gillespie took second in the long jump with a leap of 15-00. Lauren Muscutt and Alexa Rodgers tied for third in the triple jump with a mark of 29-00, a PR for the latter.

Cate Bailey (100 meters, 13.96), Julia Armstrong (shot put 19-06) and Alexa Rodgers (javelin, 65-06) recorded PRs in their events.

On the boys' side, Landon Davies won the 3,200 meters event in 10:02.44 while teammate Jacob Redman finished fourth with a PR of 11:03.00. Davies is ranked No. 1 in the 1A classification.

Davies also took second in the 1,600 in 4:28.59, one second less behind event winner Cashmere’s Rob McManus. His time in the event bumped him to third in the 1A rankings. 

Jace Seely finished second in the 800 with a PR of 2:06.85. Stephen Tveten’s 54.00 PR earned him second in the 400 meters. He also scored a fourth-place finish in the 100 meters with a PR of 11.94 PR. Issac Tveten finished fourth in the 300 meter hurdles in 47.56.

In field events, Andrew Magnaghi earned a PR of 38-07.50 to finish third in the shot put. Will Cassyre tied for second in the pole vault with 10-06 while Isaac Tveten finished fifth with a mark of 9-06. Isaac Tveten took third in the triple jump with a PR of 37-07.

Redman (1,600 meters, 5:01.41), Stephen Tveten (discus, 74-08) and Tagen Matthews (long jump, 12-11.75) recorded PRs in their events.

Some Cascade athletes will compete in the 59th Annual Shelton Invite on April 27 while others will travel to Wenatchee for an NCW Invitational.
