Cascade golf finishes at state

The three Cascade golf state qualifiers ended their season on May 22 after the completing the first round in their respective tournaments.

Issac Cortes shot a 100 in the first round of the 1A Boys Golf State Championship. He was 10 strokes over the cutoff mark of 90.

On the girls’ side, Emma Halseth hit a 102 in her first 1B/2B/1A Girls State Golf Championship appearance, missing the cutoff mark of 96.

Cascade’s third state qualifier, Emma Nielson, finished with 109, which was 15 strokes less than her score in the previous state tournament.

The Kodiaks golf team ends their season on a high note, with the girls successfully defending the Caribou Trail League championship and Halseth being named the conference’s “Golfer of the Year” in the girls’ division. 

All three state qualifiers are expected to return next season, as well as several first-year athletes.
