Cascade qualifies two doubles teams for state tennis

Posted

The Cascade Kodiaks qualified two doubles teams for the state tennis tournament coming up at the Yakima Tennis Club. As it often happens for postseason, Cascade combined their best singles players in hopes of qualifying for state.
Megan Evans and Maddie Vandel won two of their three matches last Saturday at District Tournament in Omak to place third. Their only loss came against a tough Chelan Team.
Finn Johnson and Dylan Kuehni placed fourth, losing their last match of the day to Tonasket. The boys earned a clutch victory over Omak to earn the state berth.
“Both teams are playing their best tennis of the year just at the right time. There will be lots of good competition at state and the teams will have to play their best to continue through the tournament,” said Cascade Head Coach Mark Hassinger. ‘’
The 1A/2B/1B State Tennis Tournament is Friday and Saturday at the Yakima Tennis Club.
In the first round, Johnson and Kuehni play Harrington and Wilbowo of Charles Wright Academy. Evans and Vandel play Kendra Gay and Gillian Hartman of Lakeside in the first round.
