Cascade sends a record 17 athletes to state track meet

The Cascade Kodiaks are sending a record 17 athletes to state. Cascade Head Coach Bill Davies said it was most athletes he could remember going to state. Cascade participated in the District 6 1A Track and Field meet on May 16 in Cashmere.
“It is an amazing group of kids and I am so proud of all of them,” Davies said.
Junior Gianna Pistoresi qualified in three events. She won the pole vault and high jump and was second in the long jump. Senior Ashley Parton won the 300 hurdles, and was second in the 100 hurdles and she anchored the second place 4x200 team, which includes Lauren Richardson, Emily Gaines and Kascia Muscutt.
Julia Armstrong also qualified in the pole vault. Freshman phenom Zoe McDevitt won the 3200 and was second in the 1600. Josie Brennan also qualified in the 3200.   
For the boys, Jace Seely qualified in three events, the 400 and two relays. Freshman Landon Davies finished second in the 1600 and 3200 after winning those events at CTL Championships. Senior Caleb Payne won the 800. The boys also qualified in the 4x100 and 4x400. That team includes Teague Duncan, Jace Seely, James Young, Harrison Kraus and Caleb Payne.
Steven Tveten also qualified in the 300 hurdles. Gabe Wulfman will participate in state track as a para athlete. He will run the 100, 200 and 400. He won all those event last year at state.
“It was a great night to be their coach. I was so proud of all the athletes who participated. State will be an amazing experience with these great athletes,” Davies said.
The 1A/2B/1B Track and Field meet is Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Eastern Washington University in Cheney.
