Cascade track and field team opens the season at Wenatchee

Posted

The Cascade Kodiak track and field team opened the season last Saturday in Wenatchee, at the Ray Cochran Relays. It was a big meet with plenty of 4A schools, but the Kodiaks performed well.
The girls did very well, according to Cascade Head Coach Bill Davies. Junior Gianna Pistoresi placed second in the pole vault and sixth in the high jump. The girls’ 400 meter relay team of Zoe McDevitt, Kascia Muscutt, Jagui Guzman and Carina Hernandez placed.
“Kascia ran a big PR in the 400 at a time of 62.4 seconds. She also placed in the triple jump.  Kascia should be very competitive this year and has a great chance to make it to state,” Davies said.
The boys’ 4x400 relay team was also outstanding, Caleb Payne, Jace Seely, Steven Tvetin and Carter Bailey.
“This is the best distance group I have coached in many years. It will be fun to see how they do this year. The boys 4x400 was also outstanding. They placed fifth out of 13 4A schools,” Davies said. “All the boys ran 55 seconds or better. They will continue to get faster as the season progresses. We have a very competitive district, but I hope to see great things for this group.”
Cascade competes at a Chelan meet on Thursday. On Friday, they are at the Eastmont Invitational.
