Cascade wrestling team picks up pair of league wins against Okanogan, Omak

Posted

The Cascade Kodiak wrestling team appears to have a firm grasp on second place in the Caribou Trail League. With wins over Okanogan and Omak last week, the Kodiaks are 4-2 in league matches, trailing only Chelan, which is 8-0.
The Kodiaks finished off the regular season on Jan. 23 against Cashmere and Omak at Omak. Results were not available before press time.
Last Saturday, Cascade competed against some much higher competition at the Prosser Invite. Head Coach Jesus Sandoval said they did not have the results they wanted.
“This tournament was, by far, the toughest tournament of the season. There were 16 teams there, a mix of 1A through 4A schools. However, some of the best in the state,” Sandoval said.
None of the Cascade wrestlers placed.
“We definitely learned from it. We know that these are the type of tournaments we need in order to improve. There were many returning state champs and state placers in every bracket,” Sandoval said.
Next up for the Kodiaks, the District Tournament.
