Chelan thump Cascade boys in league contest

Posted

The Cascade High School boys basketball team endured a 69-48 Caribou Trail League loss game to Chelan on Jan. 23.

Cascade maintained a slight lead through most of the first quarter until the Goats’ offense broke away in the latter minutes of the frame. Chelan’s defense kept the Kodiaks at only eight points in the second quarter.

The Goats’ defense continued to shut down Cascade’s offense as the Kodiaks only scored nine. Cascade had their best quarter in the fourth with 16 points, with eight from Ethan Burpee.

Head Coach Paul Fraker said the Kodiaks did not play defense while Chelan made their shots. Cole Warnaca led the team with 13 points while Isaac Cortes had 10.

Cascade will play Chelan for the third time on Jan. 25.

Coach Fraker noted that both Cortes and Kurt Fraker, who left the game after sustaining injuries, are unlikely to play on Friday.

“We’ll move up some JV guys, it’s like the saying “next man up,’” Coach Fraker said. “We’ll have to push ourselves and play one game at a time, and we’ll have to go from there.”
