Kodiak boys finish week with Chelan game

Posted

The Cascade High School boys basketball team finished a three-game series on Jan. 25 with a 74-60 loss to Chelan in a Caribou Trail League contest.

The Goats took a narrow 16-13 lead in the first quarter and added 22 points in the second frame. The Kodiaks continued their offensive momentum with 16 points in the second frame to cut Chelan’s lead to 38-29.

The Kodiaks added 16 more points in the third quarter and 13 in the final frame. Head Coach Paul Fraker said Cascade played well despite being down two starters, Kurt Fraker and Isaac Cortes, who both suffered injuries during the Jan. 23 game against Chelan.

“We brought up a couple of guys who played JV and they stepped up, I’m proud of that," he added.

Coach Fraker commended the team’s effort, especially on defense and rebounding.

“It was a good way to end the week and gets us ready for next week,” Coach Fraker said.

Cole Warnaca led the Kodiaks with 15 while Hans Schlyer recorded 14 and Ethan Burpee had 11.

“Any time you get three guys in the double digits and a couple more int he mid figures, is great. I was happy with that,” Coach Fraker said.

Cascade will play the first of two final regular season games against Omak on Jan. 29.
