Kodiak duo compete in Washington State Combined Events Championship

Cascade High School’s Jace Seely and Stephen Tveten competed at the 48th Annual Dennis McDonald Washington State Combined Events Championship on May 31-June 1 at Lake Stephens, Washington.

After competing in 10 events, Tveten finished ninth out of 39 athletes in the decathlon with 4,974 points while Seely placed 22nd with 4,343 points.

In individual events, Seely won the 400 meter dash in 51.99 seconds and Tveten took fourth with a PR of 52.13.

Seely also finished eighth in the 100 meter dash in 11.92 while Tveten placed 17th in 12.12. In the 1,500 meter race. Seely finished second with a PR of 4:39.62 while third-place Tveten clocked in at 4:51.50.

Tveten took 13th in the 110 meter hurdles in 17.98. Seely finished 30th with a PR of 21.76. In the shot put, Tveten finished 14th with a throw of 9.14 meters and Seely placed 37th with 6.77 meters.

Tveten also finished 14th in the discus with 24.71 meters and Seely was 28th with 19.77 meters. In the javelin, Tveten placed 25th with 33.91 meters while Seely was 29th with 29.97.

For the high jump, Tveten was 23rd with a leap of 1.60 meters. Seely finished 27th with 1.54 meters. Tveten tied for 11th in the pole vault with 3.40 and Seely tied for 21st with 2.70 meters.

In the final event, Seely tied for 24th in the high jump with 5.49 meters and Tveten was 32nd with 5.19.
