Kodiak track and field team getting set for postseason

Posted

The Cascade track and field team finished off a busy week on the track. The team participated in three meets, at Cashmere on April 24, the Rieke Invite on April 27 and the NWC Invite in Wenatchee on April 28.
According to Head Coach Bill Davies, the highlights include the performance of his two pole vaulters, Julia Armstrong and Gianna Pistoresi, who have been dominating.
“They continuously win the pole vault and high jump. Julia and Gianna both hold the school record and the Reike Invite record in the pole vault at a height of 11 feet,” Davies said.
Senior Ashley Parton continues undefeated in the 100 and 300 hurdles. The girls 4x200 relay team of Lauren Richardson, Emily Gaines, Kascia Muscutt and Ashley Parton placed in all three meets.
Muscutt also won the 400 and continues to improve each meet.
“For the distance girls, Josie Brennan and Zoe McDevitt are dominating the 800, 1600 and 3200.  Both these girls should easily qualify for state,” Davies said.
On the boys’ side, freshman Landon Davies continues to dominate the 1600 and 3200. Davies said it is fun to watch him beat a field of upper classmen by big margins.
“Caleb Payne won the 800, and Jace Seely won the 400. Both these boys continue to run faster at each meet. Teague Duncan placed third in the 200 and second in the 100. This week, we will be training and getting fine tuned for League on May 9,” Davies said.
Next up for the Kodiaks, the CTL Championship in Peshastin on May 9. The District 6 1A Championships are May 17 in Cashmere.
