The Cascade Kodiaks were the only 1A team at the Eastmont Invitational last Saturday. The meet featured 4A schools from all around state. Cascade Head Coach Bill Davies said it as fun for his athletes.
“They realize they are just as good as the big schools. Our girls team did quite well and placed in the top 10 at the meet,” Davies said.
Gianna Pistoresi and Julia Armstrong tied for second in the pole vault with jumps of 10-feet. They both placed in the high jump as well. Davies said they currently lead in the district in pole vault and are ranked in the top six in state.
Senior Ashley Parton placed second in the 300 hurdles and 7th in the 100 hurdles. She currently leads the district in both events and is ranked in the top six in state. Sophomore Kascia Muscutt placed third in the 400.
“Josie Brennan placed in the 1600 and Zoe McDevitt placed in the 3200. These girls lead our district in these events,” Davies said.
The Cascade girls placed eighth in the meet.
On the boys’ side, Steven Tveten placed ninth in the both the 110 and 300 hurdles. Caleb Payne placed in the 800 and Landon Davies placed in the 3200. Both boys lead the district in those events.
“The boys 4x400 ran great with a time of 3:42.25. This is the fastest time in district. The team includes Teague Duncan, Steven Tveten, Caleb Payne, and Jace Seely. It will be fun to see what happens in April. These athletes are outstanding and will continue to get better,” Davies said.
After spring break, Cascade will be back in action at the Brewster Relays on April 10.
