Mushrooms?

It is unfortunate for the Obama Administration, that they didn't see the movie Tora, Tora, Tora. In that movie the Japanese Admiral says, "I fear we have awakened a Sleeping Giant".

This arrogant Administration has potentially awakened the "sleeping American populace" to bear witness a system of political abuse and intimidation, unprecedented in American History! To think that we, as US Citizens, will overlook this overt abuse of power is wishful thinking at the highest level. Even many former apologists for the excesses of this Obama Administration are beginning to realize the extent of this abuse and the danger it represents to the freedoms of all Americans!

As for accountability, I am reminded of the TV Series Hogan's Heroes and Sergeant Schultz. His signature statement was "I know nothing...I know nothing!" Are we expected to believe that the man who was elected President of the United States, who is Commander in Chief and the supposed head of the most powerful nation on earth, "knows nothing'? The same seems to be true for several layers of the bureaucracy reporting to this President. This can only be by design and by intent, not by accident or basic incompetence!

I have written before about the obvious inability of this Administration to "connect the dots." Never has it been more apparent than it is today amid the Benghazi, AP, IRS and who knows how many more scandals yet to be discovered. Unfortunately, the more scandals, the less attention we pay to any one of them!

I am further perplexed by this administrations determined efforts to intimidate and suppress the News Media. If we are to believe what we have heard from the President, his Press Secretary, the Attorney General, the Secretary of the Treasury and IRS Management, their principle knowledge of what's going on within this Administration seems to come from reading or hearing the news. If they were to actually succeed in squelching the media, they would soon find themselves completely in the dark about what the various branches of Government were doing.

The person in charge in each of these instances, when confronted, relies on a standard Obama Administration excuse, "I don't know." We stand dumbly by and let these people get away with this overt admission of ignorance, malfeasance and outright stupidity! I envision that on the desk of everyone in this administration is a paperweight, adorned with the three familiar monkeys. One with his eyes covered, one with his ears covered and one with his mouth covered. "See no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil, within the Administration. How long do they think they can treat the American Public like mushrooms?

Enjoy Archery

A huge thank you to Sebastian Moraga for his excellent article on the Wenatchi River Traditional Archers as well as the history of archery.

Although many people love shooting with family and friends, hunting with the bow and arrow is a larger aspect of the sport for many archers. My husband, Tom, stated in the article "that it is not always easy to be accurate with a traditional bow " as well as "when you hit the target you may be lucky". Although these statements may be partially true, most traditional hunters practice to improve their skills in order to increase these "accuracy" and "luck" factors. In addition, ethical hunters never take a shot that is out of their range. Tom practices every day and several times a day before the hunting season begins, and therefore has been a very successful hunter. As indicated in the paper last week, the traditional bow has been a viable weapon for a very long time.

If you or your children would like to try archery, there are many events in the Wenatchee Valley in the next few months. These events include Kids' Fishing Day at the Entiat National Fish Hatchery on June 8, Founders' Day on June 29 (for children under 3 ½ feet), Salmon Festival at the Leavenworth Fish Hatchery on Sept. 28, and Apple Days at the Cashmere Museum on Oct. 5 and 6.

You are invited to all of these events to discover this fun sport for yourself and your children!
