Commissioners to consider resolution adopting Emergency Winter Restrictions

Posted

On Tuesday, Jan. 16, Chelan County commissioners will consider passing a seasonal resolution that allows the county to place temporary weight restrictions on county roads. The emergency resolution is typically passed in late winter; however, due to heavy snowmelt, some county roads at this time are being monitored for weight restrictions.
Seasonal snowmelt and runoff can soften roadways, potentially leading to costly damages. Temporary weight restrictions are put in place annually to protect the roadways from such damage. Only emergency vehicles, school buses or vehicles possessing a special permit issued by the County Engineer are exempt.
To keep up on seasonal weight restrictions and roads that are under weight restrictions, visit the Chelan County Public Works website at www.co.chelan.wa.us/public-works/pages/traffic-alerts-and-restrictions?parent=Traffic%20Alerts
The 2017 resolution is posted on that page, as is the Special Motor Vehicle Permit needed to travel on weight-restricted roads.
