Local quilt shop featured in national publication

    Weaving together a combination of artwork, talent and patterns is the process for crafting quilts that go beyond the tangible fabric. Many of us stay warm under a quilt or drape a colorful quilt over the worn couch to add a pop of decor, but not everyone really admires the form of art on their lap.The Leavenworth Quilt Company offers a wide range of fabric, patterns and guidance for those passionate about quilting - and in doing so, caught the eye of a prominent outlet, the Quilt Sampler magazine.
    "The shop began on a dream and many prayers, finally five years ago things finally lined up and Leavenworth Quilt Company became a reality," said shop owner Lynn Reppas. "All of the staff at Leavenworth Quilt Company
    Flipping through the May 10, 2019 Quilt Sampler issue, the local quilt store will have a multipage spread. Since 1995 the Quilt Sampler has been published by a household name, Better Homes & Gardens, and is only published twice a year to highlight North America's top quilt shops.
    "To be chosen as one of the featured shops in an issue of Quilt Sampler magazine is truly an honor for a quilt shop owner. When the photography team came to the shop to take pictures for the magazine article it was fun to see the shop through the eyes of an art director and photographer," said Reppa.
    The Leavenworth Quilt Company was impressively one of the ten shops chosen out of the nearly 3,000 quilt shops that were eligible to apply, according to a press release. A carefully chosen panel of quilt experts reviewed the shops based on history, charity work, teaching schedules, promotion of the business and design philosophies.
    "To be chosen as one of the featured shops in an issue of Quilt Sampler magazine is truly an honor for a quilt shop owner," said Reppas. "When the photography team came to the shop to take pictures for the magazine article it was fun to see the shop through the eyes of an art director and photographer."
    Not only will the Leavenworth Quilt Company be featured in the publication, but Reppa will also design and make an original quilt - instructions will be in the May Quilt Sampler for those that want a similar design for their own home.
    "The featured quilt that will be in the magazine was made by me and is called Icicle Starburst and will be displayed in the shop at the beginning of the new year. It is based on an original by my aunts who have a quilt shop in Oregon, JanniLou Creations," said Reppa.
