Think Pink!

Ladies Night Out for Breast Cancer Awareness

Posted

The month of October is often aligned with all things spooky and orange. It’s 31 days of pretending pumpkin carving is fun and isn’t actually a frustrating, messy process. It’s 31 days of taking a stance on the polarizing subject of whether candy corn is tasty or not. And it’s 30 days of tweaking and perfecting the costume you'll debut on that 31st day.

However, the month of October isn’t just scary movie marathons and fake spider webs. The month of October is also the month that casts a spotlight on women's health, particularly breast cancer, commonly referred to as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Cascade Medical is participating by hosting a Ladies Night Out adjacent to their Think Pink month on October 1.

“It's our Think Pink! kick off. As of right now, we have just about 20 businesses in,” said Emily Groby from Cascade Medical.

With the promise of store specials, raffles, a coupon book and a good cause focusing on women -— for $20. And with a Think Pink bracelet for $10, drink specials at certain businesses are being offered in case shopping triggers a sudden desire for a glass of Merlot.

Well known businesses such as Local Yokel, Munchen Haus, Blewett Brewing and Icicle Brewing are opening their doors and offering deals for the event. All of the stores inside Obertal Mall will also be included in the special and actually the idea for Ladies Night Out originated with the pink hued building.

"It's on a Monday, so it's geared towards locals to help locals," said Groby.

During the month of October, Cascade Medical concentrates particularly on free mammograms for women that are under insured or without insurance and is upgrading their Mammography Unit to 3D.

According to Groby, the new equipment would offer clear, quick results without the usual wait time.

The proceeds from the Ladies Night Out will benefit both the mammograms and the equipment. This event offers a chance to pay it forward and also finally use last week's payday to splurge with store special incentives.

“By growing it (Think Pink!) throughout the city, it gives us a chance to get more funds,” said Groby. “We want to ensure we're offering the best healthcare to our community.”

If the calendar is already booked for that Monday night, there is still a way to snag deals and help out the cause — coupon books can be purchased throughout the entire month of October.
