Theron “Mac” Huffman

Theron “Mac” Huffman, 95, a longtime resident of Leavenworth, died Tuesday Feb. 27, 2018 at his home in Leavenworth. Mac was born July 1, 1922 to Zed and Mary (England) Huffman at Clearfield, Iowa where he was raised and educated.
Mac enlisted in the U.S. Navy and on Sept. 12, 1944 he married Virginia 0. Abels at Corpus Christi, Texas.  After graduating flight school, Mac was deployed to Pearl Harbor where he joined Halsey’s 3rd Fleet as a Navy combat pilot with the attack bomber Squadron VPB - 22. After receiving his honorable discharge, Mac returned home where he was dropped off at Pier 91 in Seattle.  From there, he hitchhiked to Tacoma with a fellow Marine he met on board ship to wait for his wife Virginia. Mac and Virginia moved to Leavenworth in 1977 where Mac worked for Gordon Marson and was Marson and Marson Lumbers’ first store manager for 10 year and after Gordon retired, was Kenny Marson’s manager for 17 years. He retired after a total of 27 years. Mac was a kind, humble, caring person and was a very loving father. He loved to camp, fish, bowl, and traveling in their RV and basically traveling anywhere as long as it was not on a plane. He is survived by his daughter Shelly (Mark) Kittock of Olympia; son Brad Huffman of Leavenworth and a granddaughter, Hailey Huffman of Tacoma. Mac was preceded in death by his parents Zed and Mary and by his wife Virginia in 2008. A memorial service of commemoration to celebrate the life of Theron “Mac” Huffman will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at 1 p.m. at the Leavenworth Community United Methodist Church with pastors Denise Roberts and Ben Torkelson officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society or your local VFW Post.
