Claudia Rae Fay (Ashby), 97, of Leavenworth, Washington passed away on October 5, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. Claudia, daughter of Ila (Batey) and Claude W. Ashby and sister to Pauline, Roger, Raul and Tootsie was born on January 13, 1920 in Hartford, Connecticut. Claudia was the loving wife of Robert J. Fay (Bob) and mother of Robert S., Patrick, and Michael Fay. Claudia was preceded in death by Robert, her loving husband of 74 years, and her son Michael. She is survived by her two sons Robert S. and Patrick, 13 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren. Claudia taught home economics, English and art at Skykomish High School until she and Bob retired in 1982. After retiring, Claudia and Bob moved to Leavenworth, Washington. She enjoyed golf, gardening, and quilting. She especially enjoyed quilting, and many of her quilted wall hangings hung in the local Catholic Church in Leavenworth, where she volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister and made many beautiful floral arrangements for the church. Claudia will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
There will be a Catholic mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 145 Wheeler Street, Leavenworth to honor and remember Claudia on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 2 p.m. Please join us for light refreshments and sharing of memories following the mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in Claudia’s memory to Children’s Hospital Seattle or Evergreen Hospice.
