Marie V. Peck

Posted

Marie V. Peck, a longtime resident of Leavenworth died peacefully April 13 in Cashmere at the age of 88.

Born Oct. 10, 1928 in Southern California, Marie spent most of her adult life as a homemaker and mother of three children in Long Beach, California. Her husband, Bob Peck, had a long career with Northrop Aircraft, which took them to the Middle East from 1980–1985. There, Marie discovered her previously untapped artistic talents when, on a whim, she took an art class from her husband. A gallery in the International Hotel in Dhaharan sold her paintings until their retirement and  move to Leavenworth in 1985.

In Leavenworth, Marie was active with the Wenatchee Watercolor Society, Artist Guild of Leavenworth, and Cascade Artists. She sang with the Village Voices for several years. She and Bob served the community as Mr. & Mrs. Claus during many Leavenworth Christmas seasons.

Marie joined daughter Judy, Jim Behla and the cast/crew of River Riders for many trips on NW rivers (and even the Grand Canyon). She loved adventure, and enjoyed painting, gardening, skiing, cooking, and her River Bend Drive neighborhood. Marie shared her dazzling smile with everyone she met.

She is survived by sons, David Peck of Spokane and Michael Peck of Arizona; her grandson, Riley Cameron of Leavenworth; her brother Don Lapham and family of Leavenworth; her sister, Rosalie Davis and family of Wenatchee.

Mrs. Peck was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Peck, in 2008, and her daughter, Judy Peck Cameron in 2016. Heartfelt thanks are extended to Dr. Kranz and his team from Cascade Medical, for many years of care for the Peck family. No services are scheduled.
