UPDATE on Bluebird Peshastin fire

The March 3 Bluebird Peshastin facility fire was reported at 7:05 p.m. and since then been under investigation. The fire destroyed 36,000 square foot structure and the estimated dollar loss is $8 million in structure damage and $9 million for fruit, After investigating, the area of origin was narrowed to an area outside the structure with pallets of cardboard and other combustible material that was stored under an awning prior to use. A light in the area was identified as a possible ignition source. At this time the fire is classified as undetermined. 

The demolition of the building will occur in the next two weeks and the county road will remain closed. The public is advised to stay out of the area.
