Icicle Creek Glaciers and Upper Valley Erratics
Glaciers from Icicle Creek advanced multiple times over the past several hundred thousand years and left deposits near Leavenworth. Some thought lakes or slack water from Glacial Lake Missoula outburst floods deposited the boulders lying between Leavenworth and Peshastin. The late local geologist Bill Long collected data about these boulders, and others near Wenatchee, during the 1960s to 1980s. That data tells a different story about Icicle Creek glaciers and the location of past termini. Wenatchee Valley Erratics Chapter of the Ice Age Floods Institute will meet at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 13 at the Wenatchee Valley Museum, 127 South Mission. The program is free and open to the public.
