Accident in Monitor Result in Serious Injuries for Leavenworth couple 

A Leavenworth couple were traveling eastbound on US-2 in Monitor on April 28, at 3:30 p.m. Suddenly their blue 2018 Toyota RAV4 collided with the Jersey barrier.

WSP Trooper John Bryant reported that both passengers were thankfully wearing seatbelts and that drugs and alcohol were not involved in this personal collision. 83-year-old Larry Kanikeberg was driving the vehicle with 77-year-old Janet Kanikeberg in the passenger seat.

Both were transported to Central Washington Hospital and then later to Harborview Medical Center. Janet Kanikeberg told authorities that she had some abdominal pain and bruising.

Cause of the accident is still under investigation.
