City of Leavenworth appoints Housing and Parking Advisory Members

LEAVENWORTH – City Council approved mayoral appointments to the Housing Advisory and Parking Advisory Committees.

Those appointed to the Housing Advisory include Tracie Smith, Justin Horvath, Luke Dixon, Stacey Hurd, Karen Haire, and Ted Jenneskens. Caroline Moser will serve as an alternate if someone drops out. All appointees reside within city limits, with the exception of Jenneskens, who will be representing the Urban Growth Area (UGA).

“We will have one more UGA member up for Council approval at the Jan. 9 Council meeting, plus the two Councilmembers,” said City Clerk Andrea Fisher in an email to Ward Media. 

The idea for a Housing Advisory came about in March of 2023 when the City Council Housing Committee proposed the establishment of a diverse advisory that would be reflective of the broader community. The advisory will consist of nine individuals, two of which being City Council Members.

The Housing Advisory will likely have their first meeting in February of 2024, according to Fischer.

As for the Parking Advisory Committee, Erika Hernandez will fill the single open position. Hernandez’s first meeting will be on Dec. 21.
