City of Leavenworth seeks volunteers for Downtown Steering Committee positions

Posted

LEAVENWORTH—The City of Leavenworth is currently accepting letters of interest for two open positions on the Downtown Steering Committee, a citizen advisory board. The positions will commence in May 2024 and are open to downtown property owners or business operators.

The Downtown Steering Committee, established to oversee streetscape development, tourism facilities, and park improvements within the Leavenworth Commercial Districts, ensures consistency with the Downtown Master Plan. The committee also reviews and recommends changes to the City's operational support and maintenance of the Commercial Districts to better serve and enhance the Old-World Bavarian theme and economic activity. Additionally, the committee evaluates and studies new ideas brought forward by business owners, property owners, and residents to enhance business and tourism within all the City's Commercial Districts.

Preference will be given to property owners and/or business operators located outside of the Front Street Commercial District area for the two available positions. The mayor will assign the length of terms for the new committee members, with one position serving a one-year term (ending in 2024) and the other serving a two-year term (ending in 2025).

Interested individuals who meet the qualifications are encouraged to submit a letter of interest via email, mail, or in person by 4:00 p.m. on April 19, 2024. Letters should be addressed to Sue Cragun, Executive Assistant, at City of Leavenworth, 700 Hwy 2 | PO Box 287, Leavenworth, WA 98826, or emailed to scraugn@cityofleavenworth.com..
