Village of Lights causes road closures

LEAVENWORTH – Saturday road closures are in full effect for the Village of Lights. In order to address the heavier than normal traffic during the Christmastown celebrations, traffic control was enforced last Saturday and will continue the next two Saturdays, Dec. 9 and 16, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

“While there is no longer a daily “switching on” of the lights, big crowds are expected in the coming weeks, and that means heavier than normal traffic in and around town,” said a spokesperson for the WSDOT Facebook.

Here is a list of WSDOT closures provided by the city:

• No left turns from Evans St. to US 2.

• No left turns from Front St. to US 2 at the Chumstick Hwy signal.

• No through from Front St. to Chumstick Hwy.

• No left turns from US 2 to Chumstick Hwy.

“Travelers should plan for winter conditions, longer travel times, and local road closures,” said the City of Leavenworth’s Facebook post.
