On Thursday, May 11, Leavenworth Rotary Club planted "stage 1" of the pollinator garden, in the dirt area bordering the grass in the parking lot "island." At the Garten Haus. The Rotarians planted three types of perennials, all known to attract butterflies and be hardy and deer resistant. They will bloom from early summer to mid-fall. Planted were Gaillardia (blanket flower), red flowers with yellow edges Catmint, blue-violet flowers with a minty smell -Coreopsis, golden-yellow flowers. The residents were delighted, and they came to watch and celebrate with us!
