Cascade girls end three-game week with Chelan

Posted

The Cascade High School girls basketball team ended a three-game gauntlet on Jan. 25 with a 72-41 Caribou Trail League loss to Chelan.

The Lady Goats took a commanding 28-7 lead in the first quarter and never looked back.

The Lady Kodiaks gained a little momentum in the second quarter with 10 points, including six from Kaija Lovelady, with four from rebounds. Lovelady led the Lady Kodiaks with 18 points.

Cascade had their best offensive outing in the third quarter with 14 points. They finished with 10 points in the final frame.

Head Coach Dane Lewman said the team’s offense fell apart throughout the game. He complimented the team’s box one-defense against Chelan’s Lexie Gleasman.

“We just gave up too many second chances and they’ve got some great shooters,” Lewman said. “It didn’t help that they hit four three-pointers in a row. We couldn’t quite dig ourselves out of that hole. I wish we could play them again.”

Cascade will play Omak for the third time on Jan. 29. Lewman said he is looking forward to facing the Lady Pioneers on Cascade’s home court.
