Cascade Kodiaks defeat cross valley rival Cashmere in Pear Bowl

Posted

The Kodiaks jumped out to an early lead in Friday night’s classic rivalry between the Cascade Kodiaks and the Cashmere Bulldogs. At the end of the first quarter Cascade was up 12 to nothing. Cashmere responded in the second quarter to take over the lead at the half 13 to 12.

The Kodiaks regained the lead on the second play of the second half with a break away run. Moving the score to 18 to 13. Then at the start of the 4th quarter the Kodiaks overcame a first down and 40 to score again. Taking the lead to 24 to 13.

With the Bulldogs down 24 to 13 the team rallied and scored with a pass to Jack Croci to narrow the Kodiak lead to 24-19. The Bulldogs then shut the Kodiak offense down in a three and out and began a drive with 8 minutes to go. They moved the ball to the 14-yard line threatening to score with only minutes remaining on the clock. The Kodiak defense stiffened and the Bulldog drive ended on a 4th down and 9 from the 14 yard line allowing the Kodiaks take over on downs and run out the clock.

It was a hard fought game on both sides of the ball, but for 2021 the Pear Bowl Trophy and valley bragging rights will rest with Cascade until the fall of 2022.
