To the Publisher

The June 2 edition of the Echo is much appreciated. Thank you. This issue is what a community needs and wants in a hometown newspaper: good writing, a focus on local and regional news, an events calendar, and recognition of citizens of our community. The focus on our fine Cascade High School graduates is especially important and appreciated.

What we don’t need or appreciate are divisive, fact-free editorials, speculative columns, and the Epoch Times, which filled the majority of pages in the past two issues of the Echo. The Epoch Times is a far right-wing multinational publication that, according to the New York Times, is a “global-scale misinformation machine,” and one of Donald Trump’s favorite promoters. This publication is rapidly spreading across our country and the world, from flyers handed out at Trump rallies to distribution in state capitols, universities, and local newspapers such as the Leavenworth Echo.

Please give our community more issues like the June 2 edition. Be a force to bring our community together, not an instrument to divide us.
