Response to Bill Cowles

"Socialism is a siren song for the gullible and misinformed young. History has proven this over & over many times. It is ironic that socialism is gaining popularity in America now and all people need to do is look at history to realize why we should avoid it. We all need to understand history's failures so that we don't repeat them."

 

The above is a quote from the letter of July 7, 2021 by Bill Cowles. Hi Bill, I haven't shaken your hand since all this Covid mess began and we stopped bumping into each other at shops in town and in Wenatchee. Hope you are doing well.

 

But, Bill, your well written paragraph confuses me. Please correct me if I'm wrong in saying you are a retired CA police officer? I am reasonably certain I am remembering that correctly. And if I am, Bill, then I will remind you that you are, in point of fact benefitting monthly from your Socialist organization's retirement checks. 

 

Sorry, Bill, but America is full of healthy, well run Socialist organizations. All 50 of the states own and operate a State Police department, and in point of fact, all police and fire departments throughout the land are socialist entities. Like it or not, Bill, that's true. Publicly owned and operated entities even such as our own Cascade Medical Center are socialist entities owned by the taxpayers who support them, not by individuals or corporations. 

 

While we're at this minor point of socialism, I also remember you were once a member of the US Navy. Sorry to have to be the friend to inform you, Bill, but the US military, all branches, amount to our own Federal Communism. 

 

In case you are missing my point here, Bill, our lives are made better by our socialist organizations and of course protected by our enormous communistic military organizations. 

 

What these organizations do for the nation's population is protect us all from being used and abused by the monsters which existed in Europe under the former ruling royalty. Would you rather the Chelan County Sheriff's department belonged to a royal? Ah we could have our own Sheriff of Nottingham and therefore our own Chelan County Robbing Hoods to steal from the rich and dole out to the you and me chaps. 

 

And while I'm at it, Bill, I'll remind you that the USA's Communistic organization TVA was an idea founded by a GOP senator from the Great State of Nebraska...Google and look for facts. You do know what the TVA is, don't you? 

 

Finally, Bill, as a friend, please do yourself a favor and stop this nonsense about liberals and conservatives. We are all merely citizens of a great country. And on occasion, even the folks we don't see eye to eye with have thoughts and ideas that benefit all. And always remember, Socialism and Communism, like Capitalism, are simply economic systems, not Government systems.
