Cascade Medical Center has been working hard to prepare for COVID-19. As of Friday, March 13, we have tested 13 people, all negative. Similar to a wildfire response, we stood up a unified incident command system that involves our local fire districts, the Sherriff’s office, Chelan-Douglas Health District and several partner organizations for better coordination and communication. We also plan to work with the Chamber to keep our business community in the loop.

We know many of your employees are concerned about COVID-19, and we’ve set up a frequently-asked-questions page at cascademedical.org to help keep you informed. Here are two questions we’ve received from downtown employees recently:

Should I get tested for COVID-19?

Not everyone needs to be tested. At Cascade Medical, the decision to test patients for COVID-19 is based on criteria from the state Department of Health. Most people will recover on their own. If you are at higher risk for complications (including people over age 60, those with underlying medical conditions, and pregnant women) please call your healthcare provider if you have fever, cough or shortness of breath.
If you do have symptoms of concern, please call BEFORE you arrive at Cascade Medical. For the safety and consideration of others, please avoid the Emergency Department if you don’t need immediate medical care.

I don't have insurance. What are my options if I need to be tested for COVID-19?

If you don't have insurance, and you need to be tested for COVID-19, here are some options:
-- Cascade Medical offers a community financial assistance program, as well as payment plan options. Read more: https://cascademedical.org/financial-assistance
-- Washington Healthplanfinder opened a special enrollment period through April 8. If you need help finding a health insurance plan that fits your situation, call Cascade Medical at (509) 548-5815 and we will connect you with one of our bilingual insurance navigators.
