Small Peshastin train fire

Posted

Between summer wildfires and July 4 firework ban, fires have been a hot topic this summer. On July 1, a Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway locomotive originally from Seattle and heading to Chicago, caught fire that morning, according to Gus Melonas, Public Affairs director.
"There were no injuries and no damages," said Melonas. "We're investigating further for what caused the fire."
The locomotive was a general freight with containers and was taken to Wenatchee for a mechanical assessment. According to Melonas, the train was stopped for an hour and a half and delayed four other trains.
    Local responders were on site.
