Village Pharmacy closes its doors

Posted

A familiar stop on Front Street for picking up prescriptions, snagging a birthday card and some balloons or odd and ends such as baby wipes - the Village Pharmacy has been a staple in the Leavenworth community for quite some time. With an abundance of breweries, restaurants, German souvenir knick knacks; the Village Pharmacy stood out amongst its neighbors as the only place downtown to find practical items such as medication and cards.
Former owner, Kathy Wolf, decided to take the next chapter and announced retirement, and as a result decided to sell the pharmacy. The pharmacy transferred records and prescriptions to Safeway effective December 19 and the MedSafe drop box was placed at Cascade Medical.
"I'm looking back on that time (owning Village Pharmacy) with a lot of good feelings," said Wolf.
Wolf has been conducting business and making visitors feel welcome since 1975. The exact origins and dates of the conception of Village Pharmacy are unknown. But the location itself has been a revolving door for entities such as City Hall, a ballet studio and even a saloon at one time.
"Thank you to all of our customers over the years and all the friends and business associates it brought," said Wolf.
It is currently unknown who will be filling the spot, but a place on Front Street is a coveted one.
