Virginia Haggerty

Virginia Haggerty, 91, of Spokane and formerly of Chelan, died Dec. 25, 2007, at her home.

She was born Oct. 11, 1916, in Casper, Wyoming, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Huff. She attended schools in Casper, graduating from high school there and attending one year of college.

On Sept. 8, 1934, she was married to William 'Bill' Haggerty in Casper, Wyoming. She moved with her husband to many large construction projects throughout the world where he was employed.

Following a project in Panama, he retired and they moved to Chelan in 1976. After his retirement they traveled extensively to England, Europe, South America, Mexico and most of the U.S. and Canada.

Her husband preceded her in death in February, 1987. Most recently she has resided at Spokane.

While living in Chelan, she and her husband had attended the Little Stone Church.

Survivors include her children Wanda Freese, of Spokane; Carol Smith, of Bremerton, Wash.; Dean Haggerty, of Portland, Ore.; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

A graveside service was conducted Monday, Jan. 7, 2008, at Fraternal Cemetery where she was buried next to her husband. Pastor Gordon Hyde officiated. Services were under direction of Precht Rose Chapel, Chelan.

James G. Henson

James G. Henson, 61, of Chelan, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, at Central Washington Hospital.

He was born April 27, 1946, in Glendale, Calif., the son of James and Edith (Sloan) Henson. He attended schools there and later moved to Alaska for several years.

He then moved to the Lake Chelan area where he was employed with local apple firms including Blue Chelan and Beebe, before retiring.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He has no family surviving but leaves close friends, Tom and Chris Long and Jack and Audrey New, all of the Chelan area.

A tribute service will take place Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, at 7:30 p.m. at Precht Rose Chapel with Rev. Frank Needles officiating. Private interment will be at Riverview Cemetery. Services are under direction of Precht Rose Chapel, Chelan.
