Curtis Whistman, age 96, went to be with the Lord on May 24, 2019. Curtis was born on July 14, 1923, and raised in Keoke, VA. As a teenager he moved with family and friends to Leavenworth, WA. This became the place he called home and raised his family. He first worked in Kelso, WA, to clear a way for powerlines, and he also worked for various orchards in the Wenatchee Valley. Curtis later went to work at the Peshastin Mill in Peshastin, WA, where he worked for 35 years, until his retirement in 1988. Curtis loved to spend time with his family. He loved to hunt and fish. His pastime was driving his truck in the mountains. When spring came, he was out looking for mushrooms and working in the garden.
Curtis was a loving husband to his wife, Christena of 69 years; and a loving father to his five children; one granddaughter; three great-grandchildren; and lots of nieces and nephews. Curtis was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers; and three sisters.
Graveside Services will be held at Mountain View Cemetery in Leavenworth, WA, Thursday, May 30, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. Funeral Arrangements are in the care of Heritage Memorial Chapel, East Wenatchee, WA.
