Herman Carl Bloss

Herman Carl Bloss was a loving husband, father, brother, mentor and good friend to many.

He passed away April 23, 2019 at home in Leavenworth, WA. He had been in poor health and

was under the care of Hospice the past two months. Herman was born July 12, 1931 in

Compton, CA and raised in Oroville, CA. He served in the Navy for 4 years in the US and Far

East. He graduated from Chico State College as a Civil Engineer and worked at Kaiser

Engineers in Sacramento, Dept. of Highways in Alaska, BART in San Francisco, Bechtel in

Jubail, Saudi Arabia, and for Schneider Homes in Tukwila. He also built and remodeled

houses with his brother Don in California and Arizona. Herman was a good cartoonist and

loved to make humorous pictures and cards. He was a well known quarterback at Oroville

High School and Chico State College. In younger years, he loved fly fishing, skiing, golf and

cookouts at the river. Later he loved daily car rides and spotting wildlife.

Herman retired to Leavenworth in 2006 after living in Lake Stevens for close to 30 years. He

was preceded in death by his parents Herman and Hazel, sister Carma and husband Jim Miller, sister Jan and husband Bob La Force, and brother Don. He is survived by his wife Kathy, son Kip, and daughters Jan and husband Bill Slaughter, Molly Bloss and fiancé Aaron Burt, and Jen Bloss and partner Cara Senard. He is also survived by granddaughters Ada and Harper Robbins, Keriana Schribner, and grandsons Jeff Bloss and Jake Bloss as well as

many loving nieces and nephews. He will be missed.

There will be a Celebration of Life Open House at 425 Cedar Street, Leavenworth on Saturday, July 13, from Noon to 4 p.m.
