Maxine C. Smith

Maxine Smith, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully and surrounded by love on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at the age of 94. She was born December 31, 1928, to Henry and Ina (Templin) Harrison. She was the second oldest of eight children.
Maxine grew up and went to school in Leavenworth, graduating from Leavenworth High School in 1948. She loved Leavenworth when she was a kid and had many fond memories of growing up there with her siblings.
Maxine met John Smith in 1947 and they were married on Labor Day, September 5, 1949. They lived in their home in Peshastin and were inseparable for over 70 years. Maxine packed fruit at the warehouse for a number of years and absolutely loved her job and all the friendships she made there. Together, John and Mac enjoyed many outdoor activities including horseback riding, jeeping and camping with family and friends. They took many long drives, which in their later years seemed to always wind up at a casino in the hopes of winning big.
Maxine loved her family and enjoyed taking care of others. She always had a smile on her face and usually some home baked goodies ready to share. Her generosity and kind spirit shined brightly and will always be remembered.
The BEAUTIFUL staff at Mountain Meadows deserve a huge, heartfelt thank you for all the love they showed her over the last two years.
Maxine is survived by her son John (Ellen) Smith, daughter Jana (Scott) Pitman, granddaughters Ashley (David) Tillotson, Jordyn (Brandon) West, and Kenzie Sauer, great grandchildren, brother Jerry (Karen) Harrison, sister Ellen (Darrell) Barker and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband, sisters, Loretta Sullivan, Norma Harmon, Marian Hunter, Arnetta Covey, and brother Fred Harrison.
There are no words that can express how special Maxine was and how much she meant to us. She was generous, loving, caring and kind to all. The sweetest person you could ever know. Her love and light will live on forever.
