Rose Kathelene Walters-Bickel

March 11, 1938-May 7, 2023

Rose Kathelene Walters was born to George and Thelma Walters on March 11, 1938, in Leavenworth. She grew up in the shadow of Tumwater Mountain until she married Charles Baumann in 1954. They eventually moved up to the dairy on the Chumstick. After moving from the Chumstick she worked at and then owned the Leavenworth Florist which she loved. She also worked at various restaurants in the valley as a cook and waitress.

Mom moved to Cashmere where she worked at various places, the Hitching Post, The Pioneer House, and The Cashmere. She met and married Jerald Bickel in 1991 and then semi-retired.

Mom loved the great out of doors. For many years Mother’s Day was spent celebrating mom up in the mountains having a picnic and hunting for morel mushrooms. In the fall she loved to go huckleberry picking. She loved to fish, camp and tend her flower gardens. Another love was her cross stitching, crocheting and her passion for playing darts. But her biggest love was her five children, grandkids, and great grandkids.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents, her two brothers and two sisters, and by her husband, Jerald Bickel. She is survived by her five children, Clarence Baumann of the family home in Cashmere, Cindy Baumann (Scot Lemons) of Leavenworth, Clayton Baumann (Jennifer) of Everett, Ken Baumann (Ann) of Leavenworth and Kelly Baumann (Janet) of Moses Lake. She was blessed with six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. In addition, five step grandchildren, eleven step great grandchildren, and by her loving childhood friend, Lajuana King Mcclure of Leavenworth.

Family and friends’ visitation will take place from 4-6 on Wednesday, May 24 at Jones & Jones Funeral Home in Wenatchee. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 at Mt. View Cemetery in Leavenworth. There will be a gathering at the Leavenworth Firehall starting around 12-3 to celebrate mom's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Humane Society in Wenatchee.
