Road Construction & Maintenance Update

Posted

Road Maintenance

Chip sealing in Leavenworth District this week: County Road crews on Monday will finish up on Cedar Brae Road near Lake Wenatchee and then move to Karl Road. Also on the list for chip sealing are portions of Beaver Valley (milepost 12 to 14) and Eagle Creek (milepost 0 to 3.3) roads and Chumstick Highway (milepost 6.6 to 7.0). Please plan for minor delays in the work area or avoid these roads if you can. In the work area, the road will be at one lane, with flaggers and/or pilot cars directing traffic.

For a list of county roads scheduled for chip sealing this year and information on what to expect if road preservation is occurring in your neighborhood, go to https://www.co.chelan.wa.us/public-works/pages/pavement-preservation-program.

County Construction Projects

Knowles Road Improvement Project: The project’s contractor continues to install water facilities. Minor water outages may occur when the contractor ties properties into the new hookups. The contractor will notify property owners if this happens. When water infrastructure is completed, the contractor will be moving on to constructing stormwater facilities. The closure of Knowles Road (between School Street and American Fruit Road) will continue until about Aug. 5. The project remains on schedule. Motorists are asked to continue using the established detour via Crestview Road.

Cascade Orchard Bridge: Construction on the Leavenworth project has begun. Motorists will experience some minor delays, with traffic on the bridge being down to one lane. An automated signal will allow traffic through, alternating traffic from either end of the bridge. The project also requires a month-long closure, with a detour via East Leavenworth Road. That full closure will begin in mid-August so the contractor can pave the bridge deck.

Maintenance plans may change with weather conditions or equipment difficulties. Visit the Public Works website, where the weekly road maintenance information is regularly updated.
