Cindy Puckett wins reelection to Cascade School Board

Posted

Some Cascade School Board members have never had to run against anyone. Many times, they ran unopposed. For instance, incumbent Carrie Sorensen ran unopposed and newcomer Trey Ising ran unopposed for the school board.

However, the two times Cindy Puckett has run for school board she has faced formidable opponent. Both times she has come out on top. In this last election, Puckett garnered 64 percent of the voter over attorney Ellen Beardsley.

Seeing the election results was very pleasing, Puckett said.

“I’m excited to see the future with the schools, moving forward with how everything is going. I do compliment Ellen for running against me. I do appreciate that. I hope she has a future with the school district. I’m very excited and I thank everyone who voted for me. It’s awesome,” Puckett said.

Puckett, who really didn’t campaign much, feels her long local ties have helped her prevail in the past two elections.

“I am a local person who has been here for most of my life, knowing the district and learning more. People appreciate having someone who is a spokesperson for their children and parents and the residents that live here,”

Puckett, who is a cashier at Dan’s Food Market, said she is ready for another four years.

“I’m actually thrilled. I’m looking forward to seeing these kids move into their new buildings. Being able to move forward with all the aspects of the district and being that spokesperson, seeing how everyone approved our bond. I want to say thank you to all the voters for that,” Puckett said.
