Community comes together for Ramos fundraiser

Posted

The sounds of laughter and hits like Pharrel's "Happy," could be heard from outside of Alpine Lakes Elementary School on June 22, as family members, classmates and community members came together for local high school Kelvin Ramos for a fundraiser.

The event help raised funds for Ramos and his family. Ramos suffers from muscular dystrophy, a progressive condition that leads to muscle weakness and disability. He and his family fly to Texas for his therapy sessions.

Tacos, tamales, pupuzas and other delicious food items were sold. There were also prizes and other items donated by local businesses. Several folks also volunteered at the fundraiser.

"I'm happy that everyone came out to help with my therapy and (expenses) to Texas," Ramos said.

Folks who want to help Ramos and his family can go to Cashmere Valley Bank and make a donation to the Kelvin Ramos benefit account.
