Mr. Kodiak 2023

Posted

Mr. Kodiak is a longstanding tradition that has been taking place at CHS for the past twelve years. Mr. Kodiak originally stemmed from a Junior Miss pageant that used to be hosted at Cascade High School. This pageant was only for girls. Some community members thought it would be humorous to make a boys’ version of this pageant. As a result, Mr. Kodiak was born.

This year’s contest will be hosted in the CHS auditorium with the theme of “My Animated Life.” Seniors will dress up as animated characters and showcase their pickup lines and talent, in addition to participating in a group dance. The contest will be judged by five community members who will ultimately decide which contestant earns the title of 2023 Mr. Kodiak. Announcing this year, just like he does every year, is Clint Strand.

This year’s contestants are Jones Duncan, Jesse Gunter, Vincent Slette, Braeden Parton  Aiden Tuttle, Quentin Farell, Antonio Aurilio, Alden Brooks, Kaston Dillon, Kai Lewman.

CHS art teacher and mother to senior Kaston Dillon, Teara Dillon, is serving as the head of the Mr. Kodiak committee. Dillon has been working with the boys for the past two months. They have been practicing a group dance choreographed by Mia Bretz. As well as their talents and getting their looks ready for stage. Dillon said she is feeling “excited for all the humor. The boys are taking this with a very light heart. I love watching them dance and be goofy. It lets them express their inner child.”

A silent auction will be set up outside the auditorium for guests to be able to bid on before the show starts. Multiple local restaurants, shops and community members have sponsored the silent auction by donating gift certificates ranging from $25-$250, gift baskets and many other goodies for both adults and families. Following the silent auction will also be a live auction where parents of the contestants and escorts will provide one of the participants favorite baked goods to be put up for auction. All proceeds will be used to fund the Senior Sober, an annual parent-sponsored event to ensure a safe, supervised, and sober graduation celebration.

The senior boys have been waiting for the opportunity since they entered high school. “I always watched [Mr. Kodiak] growing up and I knew one day I would want to do it myself.” Said Jones Duncan. The talk of Mr. Kodiak has the whole school ecstatic. Ms. Molitor said she is excited for Mr. Kodiak because she “loves to see the boys be able to show off their personalities.” Senior Vincent Slette exclaimed that all community members should come to Mr. Kodiak because “it’s a once in a lifetime experience to see me shake that thang.”

Mark your calendars for April 17, as the senior class of 2023 at Cascade High School gears up to put on an unforgettable performance in the school’s auditorium. Tickets will be $5 at the door. The show promises to be a night full of fun, laughter and memories that will last a lifetime. The Mr. Kodiak committee invites all members of the community to join us in supporting CHS seniors, who have worked tirelessly to put on this production.
